14th Burnham Art Trail

Venue 3. The Garden Studio, 4 Fernlea Road, 11am-5pm: Frances Franklin 

Throughout the week Frances will be working in her garden studio making ‘Recycleart’ from her accumulated materials. Visitors are invited to look, chat, join in or just spend time in the garden sketching, painting or relaxing.

Drums for fun

Join drummer and photographer Paul Lester for a free, drop-in workshop using Djembe-style drums.  Drumming as a group, you will learn some basic North African rhythms in the Franklins’ beautiful garden. Some drums are available, but bring a drum if you have one!  Saturday 30 June, 2-4pm.

 

Venue 4.  Studio, 13 Park Road, 11am-5pm: John Green

See John demonstrating his watercolour techniques that celebrate simplicity, and join him in informal, free sketching sessions in his garden studio – materials provided.  (His studio is open every day, but John will be taking part in Art on the Quay on Sunday 24 June and Saturday 30 June.)

 

Venue 6. Garden Studio, 9 Winstree Road, 11am-5pm: Jenny Newman

See Jenny painting in her garden studio every afternoon except Thursday. (Her studio is open every day)

 

Venue 7. Station House Studios, Station  Approach, 10am-5pm: Glynnis Dye & Kitty Oakley

Also showing will be work by mixed media artist Triss Norman, ceramics by Moira Goodall and home accessories created by textile artist, Iona Hawkins.

 

Venue 13.  Amy Keeper Jewellery Studio & Craft Gallery, 86 Station Road, 11am-5pm

Amy will be making jewellery in her studio during the afternoons, except on Sunday 24 June and Saturday 30 June, when she will be doing demonstrations at Art on the Quay.  Her studio will be open all week.

 

Venue 15.  Chapel Studio, Albert Road, 11am-5pm: Akiko Fujikawa

Housed in a converted chapel, Akiko’s studio and gallery showcases her woodblock prints.  A master printmaker, Akiko is offering taster sessions and demonstrations:

A Taste of Japanese Woodblock Printing: 23, 24, 29, 30 June & 1 July – £5 per print.

A Taste of Japanese Calligraphy:  2 hour sessions, 26 & 27 June, £10.  (To book call Akiko 01621 783730 or email akikohanga@gmail.com)

Free Demonstrations: Saturday 23 and 30 June, 1-2pm in Chapel Studio.  Sunday 24 June, 11am-12noon at Art on the Quay.

 

Venue 20. The Studio, 4 Witney Road, 11am-5pm: James Bradshaw & Lucy Fowler

A garden studio tucked away just off the High Street – providing an oasis of calm, with a lovely show of paintings, prints and ceramics.

 

Venue 25.  Warners Hall, High Street, 11am-5pm: Johanna Kennedy

See Johanna’s animal and bird paintings in her home studio – which also happens to be one of the most distinguished houses in Burnham.

 

Venue 26. Ramblers Studio, 12 Ramblers Way, 11am-5pm: Jean Webber & Martin Hipsey

Throughout the week Jean will be in her studio demonstrating oil painting techniques.  Offering light lunches and cream teas in her delightful garden, Jean also plays host to Martin Hipsey’s quirky sculptures.  On top of this, there’s a chance to see her husband’s model railway.

 

Venue 27.  The Studio, 85 High Street, 12 noon – 5pm, weekends only:  Fianne Stanford

Painter and printmaker, Fianne’s work and beautiful old press are available to see in her studio.  Weekends only.
