ORMISTON RIVERS ACADEMY
The quote by Henri Matisse “There always are flowers for those who want to see them” has inspired ORA art students. Looking at Fauvism and the Expressionists, has informed their own personal responses to the theme.

LUCY GREEN
Wildlife photographer, Lucy Green, is passionate about getting up close and personal with her subjects, an approach that allows her to capture intimate and detailed portraits.

TRISS NORMAN
A lifelong interest in the sea, rivers and waterways has motivated Triss to create a series of monoprints and supporting journals. These focus on the damage inflicted to our ever-changing natural environment.

SANDRA BELL
Sandra’s work is inspired by nature, featuring detailed ink drawings, primarily of birds, over vibrant watercolour washes. Her art reflects her love and connection to this beautiful local environment.

JOHN GREEN
John’s motivation comes from the influence of light and colour to make his watercolours look luminous and transparent, adjusting the composition and tone especially when painting in the open air.

FRANCES FRANKLIN
Frances’s mixed media works are based on her own photos taken during a lifetime of travel. She is particularly drawn to the enticing pathways and atmospheric contrasts of the ancient medina.

KATHRYN HOCKEY
Kathryn continues to work on small scale mixed media paintings, some of which are inspired by the flowers that were blooming in the artists’ studio gardens during last year’s Art Trail.

SUE JONES
This is the second year for Sue in the Art Trail; her preferred medium is oil paint. Most of her inspiration is from the surrounding nature, particularly big skies, coastal views and landscape.

JOSCELYN MCINNES
Classic boats, in watercolour, are still Joscelyn’s passion, recent work includes local buildings using pen and watercolour. She would love to paint your home, boat or ‘best friend’.

ROGER PERRIN
Roger is an acrylic painter. His subjects include landscapes, wildlife, animals, horses, sometimes scenes with people and commissions. Although anything can be a subject that he will enjoy depicting.

ROGER BARCROFT
Roger has recently moved from oils to charcoal (for now) and is exploring different ways of deconstructing images of people – leaving out details that the observer’s view can complete.

DOUGIE HAWES
I am a hobby artist with a logical mind, which is atypical for an artist. Rather than allow this to be a hindrance, I make this part of my unique voice.

MARGARET SKERRITT
Margaret is a ceramicist who uses a wide variety of techniques in her work. She experiments with glazes & images on functional objects and enjoys hand building sculptural forms.

JACOB BELL
From a skateboarding background, I have always been inspired and obsessed with graffiti style artwork, the freedom of it and the fact anywhere can be your canvas.

KEVIN HARBER
Kevin has been sculpting for over 10 years, using windfall tree branches & driftwood but increasingly now enjoys carving from block wood, adding finer detail with rotary, burning tools and a painted finish.

VINCE HERNAN
Vince prefers using a wide angle approach in his photography, juggling with light and shadow in everyday scenes to achieve interesting compositions.

CELEBRATING 200 YEARS OF RAILWAYS
Our station will host a platform exhibition by local primary schools, with bunting made by Burnhams Crochet Corner, framed by the award-winning Station Adopters Gardens. The 24th June is the Garden Adopters Open Day.

SUE HODGSON
Sue is a local artist and has lived most of her life in Essex. She loves to experiment with mixed media, often painting animals and capturing their personalities and humour. Sue runs two art classes every week.

CELEBRATING 200 YEARS OF RAILWAYS
Together with Burnham Station Adopters, this year’s Art Trail Schools Project, have worked with primary school children to produce artwork reflecting the history of rail transport. Exhibited here and at our lovely Railway Station

LINDSEY WAY
Lindsey uses ink fine liner pens to draw lively images of birds and animals and captures their characteristics. She is always on the look out for new and interesting subjects.

TANIA RHODES - TAYLOR
Tania Rhodes-Taylor is new to the Art Trail this year and paints in oils. She is a figurative painter with a particular interest in still life, landscapes and portraits of people and animals.

TIM EDWARDS
Attended Medway School of Art, Fine Art 1970’s. Sponsored and mentored in early years by Ivon Hitchens RA. Founder of The Maylands Art Group. Tim exhibits nationally, covered in the national press.

LOUISE CHAPMAN
Louise Chapman is a self-taught artist. New to the Art Trail she has produced a set of vibrant acrylic paintings inspired by her love of the amazing wildlife that inhabits the Essex coastal waters.

TORS DUCE
Textile artist inspired by our local shoreline. Creates unique colour and texture in her ‘threadscape’ pictures and jewellery using a variety of techniques. Enjoys mixed media and free-machine stitching especially with black thread to ‘sketch’ pictures.

GRACE SELFE
I like to use mixed media, hoping that my images bring a sense of peace and connectedness, and a centre point of stillness that rests in every heart.

CAROL HUTTON
Carol is new to the art trail and is very excited to be part of it. She became interested in Quilling a few years ago, an old craft which Carol finds so enjoyable.

SARAH THOMPSON
Sarah is mainly a self taught jeweller heavily inspired by her surroundings and love for nature. She works mainly with recycled silver and gold to create timeless pieces.

RICHARD MIXTURE
Richard, a landscape artist inspired by nature, who is passionate also about art’s ability to alleviate mental health issues. Working in oil & watercolour he produces striking images in a semi-abstract expressive style.

SHEILA WARNER
Sheila has worked in Textiles for 20 years, specialising in gold work and has developed an individual style applying a variety of materials.

PAMELA COFFIN
Pamela is self taught, working mainly in watercolour. She is interested in experimenting with different techniques in painting and exploring the possibilities of light and colour.

CHARLES BRAN
Our countryside walks are my inspiration for the subjects in my Lino prints. I also make handmade paper and inks from natural materials.

SUSAN BRIGDEN
Susan Brigden creates pieces of silver jewellery that reflect her love of bold colours & shapes. Her designs often feature seaglass, which she enjoys combing from UK beaches with her dogs in tow.

JAMIE CHAPMAN
An annual painter, Jamie this year flexes his fine art degree with vibrant, musically inspired figurative paintings.

LUCY FOWLER
Lucy works predominantly in porcelain clay, creating functional, decorative, delicate and whimsical pottery. Her inspiration comes from coastal and rural surroundings.

FENELLA MILLER
Fenella has used fused glass to express her art for years, inspired by the coast where she lives and sails. She also runs workshops to promote the magic of glass.

CORAL SKELSEY
Coral is a textile artist drawn to hand embroidery. She enjoys the meditative feel of pulling the needle and thread through fabric, letting the stitches take her on a journey into colour and texture.

I am inspired by the Dengie landscape and working with nature. My mediums are pencil, watercolour, printmaking and oils. I am presently working on a large drawing of a clump of trees in Southminster.

Malcolm tries to make his photography artistic and unique, showing the world different perspectives. Often using images captured as sketches and templates from which to produce finished images.

EUGENIA CHEPURNA
Eugenia is a self-taught artist from Ukraine. She is passionate about capturing the beauty of nature, emotions and the energy of life. Her art reflects her journey through life, her love for nature and focus on mental wellness.

UTE FUERST
This year, Ute is working with watercolour as well as venturing into new territory; oil on canvas board. She loves light and strong colours and uses them to accentuate her pensive and playful works.

ANNA CHIAMPESAN
The human body, in all its complexity and elegance, serves as my primary muse. I aim to capture the delicate interplay between form and feeling, exploring how our physical presence reflects and shapes our inner world.

TRACY SAUNDERS
Abandoned, rotting hulls, and colourful interpretations of the local allotments, continues my exploration in the process of ageing and delight in the medium of watercolour.

Susan began painting after moving to Burnham five years ago, she is inspired by nature and enjoys using watercolour, learning and experimenting with different styles.

Jean has painted for 25 years. She explores colour, texture and form using different techniques for painting colourful abstracts, atmospheric landscapes & seascapes, and collages on navigation charts.

Anne creates jewellery from sustainable 999 Fine Silver Clay. The versatility of this product allows her to create jewellery, which reflects her love of art, nature, colour and the Art Deco period.
